In 1992 Harry Redknapp took what many people thought was risk in signing Paolo to the Hammers for 1.5m pounds, after the incident with ref Paul Derkin. But during his 3 seasons at the Boleyn ground Paolo went on to become one of the most beloved West Ham players in the past 20 years. He made 141 appearances scoring 51 goals and ranked No 11 in West Hams all-time top 50 players, the impression he left on those that saw him play will not be forgotten.
