Widely known as an innovative visionary Ron guided West Ham to their first ever club trophies, winning the FA Cup in 1964 and the European Cup Winners Cup in 65. He spent 16 years at the club 13 as manager and then 3 years as general manager after the appointment of John llyal to manager. Ron was responsible for what was known as the Academy of Football, the West Ham way and after leaving the Hammers in 1977 went on to become the England manager.
